Carl Junction, MO – Multi-Injury Crash at Hwy 171 and Ivy Rd Involves Tractor-Trailer

Carl Junction, MO (February 23, 2026) – A major collision between a pick-up truck and a tractor-trailer left several people with serious injuries on Sunday evening, February 22, near the intersection of Highway 171 and Ivy Road. Carl Junction Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly before 7:00 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicate that a pick-up truck traveling eastbound on Ivy Road failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the path of a semi-truck traveling on Highway 171. The semi-truck struck the pick-up, forcing the smaller vehicle off the roadway.

The driver and a passenger in the pick-up truck were rushed to a local hospital with life-altering injuries. A child inside the pick-up sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the semi-truck was also treated for injuries sustained in the impact.

The Carl Junction Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash.

We extend our best wishes to everyone injured in this accident as they recover.

Why you should contact a lawyer after a truck - vehicle collision in Missouri

To safeguard your legal interests, you need a professional who can conduct a deep-dive investigation into every contributing factor, from vehicle data to road design, to ensure your financial and medical recovery is fully protected.

In collisions involving semi-trucks, the claims process is vastly different than a standard passenger vehicle accident. You are often dealing with commercial carriers that employ specialized teams to protect their assets. A car accident lawyer understands how to navigate these large-scale policies, ensuring that every available avenue of coverage is explored to address the full extent of your medical bills, lost wages, and long-term care needs.

Commercial trucks are equipped with Electronic Control Modules (ECMs) that record critical data such as travel speed, braking patterns, and the driver’s steering input at the moment of impact. Because this data is often programmed to be overwritten within 30 days, immediate action is required to preserve this evidence.

Even when a specific traffic movement is cited in a preliminary report, a professional investigation looks at the "why" behind the event. This includes analyzing the visibility at the scene, checking for obstructed signage, or identifying previous design flaws at the crossing. By examining the speed and the environment as a whole, a lawyer ensures that the official record is comprehensive and that no detail regarding the safety of the roadway is overlooked.

Serious injuries require a recovery plan that may span years, not just weeks. A lawyer works with medical experts to forecast the total cost of possible future surgeries, physical therapy, and specialized treatment. Having an advocate allows you to focus entirely on your physical healing while they manage the complex task of protecting your financial future.
