Kansas City, MO – Passenger Dies After SUV Crash at Broadway Blvd & Linwood Blvd

Kansas City, MO (October 30, 2025) – A woman has died from injuries sustained in a violent SUV crash that occurred early on October 29 in Kansas City.

According to the Kansas City Police Department, the crash happened just after 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday near the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Linwood Boulevard. Police say a silver Dodge Journey was heading south on Broadway when the driver may have suffered a medical emergency, causing the vehicle to speed through the intersection.

The SUV veered off the road, hit a parked Lexus, and continued onto the sidewalk. It then struck a steel light pole and the Vietnam Memorial before finally crashing into the side of the nearby VFW building.

Emergency crews responded quickly and transported both the driver and the front-seat passenger—an adult female—to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, the passenger died later that evening from her injuries.

The driver remains hospitalized in very critical condition. No names have been released at this time, and police have not confirmed what specific medical issue may have led to the crash.

We extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the victim during this incredibly difficult time.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

SUV Accidents in Kansas City, Missouri

SUV crashes can lead to devastating outcomes, particularly when they involve high speeds, medical emergencies, or collisions with fixed objects. In busy cities like Kansas City, crashes near major intersections or landmarks can have significant impacts on both victims and the surrounding community.

When medical events are a factor in a crash, they can be difficult to predict and often lead to unexpected injuries or fatalities. Victims injured in these types of accidents—whether passengers or pedestrians—may still have legal rights to compensation, even if the driver was not fully aware of their medical condition.

Compensation in fatal SUV accidents may cover a wide range of damages. This includes the cost of emergency medical care and hospital treatment the victim received before passing away. Families may also be eligible to recover funeral and burial expenses. In cases of emotional trauma, damages may also account for pain and suffering as well as the loss of companionship. If the deceased was a source of financial support, loved ones may be entitled to compensation for lost future income as well.

Families facing the loss of a loved one may feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next. An experienced wrongful death attorney can help investigate the case, handle insurance matters, and pursue justice on behalf of the victim.
