Lincoln Co., MO – Three Injured, Including Child, in Collision with 18-Wheeler on U.S. 61

Lincoln County, MO (February 4, 2026) – Three people were injured, including a young child, following a collision with a semi-truck on Monday evening, February 2. The accident occurred on the northbound lanes of U.S. 61.

According to the local police department, a 2026 Kia Sportage and an 18-wheeler were both traveling northbound when the incident took place. The semi-truck was reportedly in the left lane attempting to pass the Kia. As the unidentified truck driver merged back into the right lane, the semi struck the Kia.

The occupants of the Kia included a 33-year-old male driver, a 32-year-old female passenger, and a 7-year-old child. Emergency responders evaluated all three at the scene. The two adults sustained moderate injuries, while the 7-year-old child suffered non-life-threatening injuries. All victims were provided medical attention.

Authorities continue investigating the crash.

We wish a full and swift recovery for everyone hurt in this accident.

Legal Options After a Crash Involving a Truck in Missouri

Legal guidance can help clarify the specific options available after a collision with a commercial vehicle. Accidents involving 18-wheelers or semi-trucks are significantly different from standard passenger vehicle crashes because they are governed by both state laws and federal regulations.

When a truck driver makes an unsafe lane change or fails to account for blind spots on a highway like U.S. 61, multiple parties may be held liable, including the driver, the trucking company, or even the entity responsible for the vehicle's maintenance. Understanding these layers of responsibility is essential for ensuring that all long-term medical and financial needs are addressed.

These incidents often lead to complex insurance claims because trucking companies typically carry high-limit policies and are represented by sophisticated legal teams. An attorney can assist by identifying the specific violations of regulations that may have contributed to the crash.

Furthermore, a lawyer helps navigate the recovery of "economic" and "non-economic" damages. Because truck accidents involve such immense force, the injuries can require extensive future care, such as physical therapy or specialized treatment for children.

A legal team can coordinate with medical experts to document these needs and calculate lost future earning capacity. Having a professional manage the communication with various insurance adjusters allows the injured party to focus on their recovery while ensuring their legal rights remain fully protected.

At Dunk Law Firm, the team understands the complexities involved in commercial truck accident cases and can help you organize the necessary information for your recovery.
